This is a one-of-a-kind dress made by Kathleen Saviak. Once it sells, it's gone!
Modeled by Nellie, this unique dress features a pink and gray cotton fabric with a whimsical foliage print. The short sleeves and the gathered skirt are both trimmed with baby pink lace. There are three matching baby pink 3D flower buttons attached* at the waistline where the bodice meets the skirt piece. Closure type is velcro in the back.
*Please note the flower buttons are attached using safety pins, as opposed to being sewn on. Sadly, we have no way of asking Kathi if that was intentional (i.e., so they would be removable/customizable) or if it's simply because she ran out of time to sew them on. Out of respect for Kathi's legacy, we did not sew them on and thus tamper with her creation.
Kathleen (Kathi) Saviak was a beloved mom, grandmother, sister, and friend. Kathi grew up in Miami where she developed a passion and talent for sewing. She continued pursuing her interests working at a fabric store for many years. Kathi eventually discovered a love of creating doll clothes; and she sewed many beautiful outfits for her granddaughter. Even after her granddaughter outgrew dolls, Kathi continued with this hobby to keep herself busy when health issues made other activities more difficult. Kathi loved coordinating fabrics to make the perfect outfit.
When Kathi passed away in 2018, she left behind her large collection of doll clothes, each item made with so much love and stored with great care. More than five years later, Kathi’s daughter, Alleen, decided it was time to part with the collection and pass on her mother’s creations to the next generation of doll lovers. We at Sew Stellar Styles were honored when Alleen reached out to us, and we are humbled to play a role in helping her sell the clothes.
It brings great comfort to know that Kathi’s legacy will live on, and her creations will be loved for many more years to come. By purchasing an item made by Kathi, you, too, are helping to honor her legacy.
